Working Groups

Beyond Compliance working groups are small groups of members who collaboratively work on discrete projects. New working groups may be created as new project ideas and needs emerge. We encourage members to bring up new project ideas at convenings or by contacting one of the network conveners. If you are interested in helping to organize an existing working group, please get in touch with the group’s organizer(s) listed below.

Roadmapping (Temporarily Paused)

The Roadmapping working group will conduct a strategic roadmapping process to outline the direction and priorities of the network for the next three years. This process will include:

  1. Revisiting the goals and vision from previous convenings
  2. Assessing the network’s capacity and resources to meet those goals
  3. Developing a framework within which the network can ideate and prioritize projects, and
  4. Building a strategy for achieving the network’s goals.

The committee will lead this process, but the broader network will be asked for input and feedback during convenings or asynchronously. The output of this effort may include a visual tool that outlines a general strategy, timeline, and overview of the network’s goals.

Expected time commitment: 2-4 hours/quarter (1-2 calls, plus 1-2 hours of asynchronous work).

Facilitation and coordination roles: TBD depending on network interest.
If you are interested in learning about this group or in contributing to their work, please contact Emelia Williams.

Advocacy Toolkit (No Longer Active)

The Advocacy Toolkit working group has drafted a set of recommendations that agencies publishing environmental data can include in their reporting policies in order to improve the quality, accessibility, and usability of their data. You can find those recommendations, as well as background information, here.

If you have feedback on (i) the toolkit language, (ii) other tools we could create (e.g., a how-to guide, a living list of opportunities for sharing such as agency open comment periods, etc.), and (iii) our longer-term dissemination strategy, please contact us directly or fill out this form.

This working group is not currently active, but if you are interested in learning about or contributing to the Advocacy Toolkit, please contact Katie Hoeberling.
